THEY GO TO
SLEEP BY SAUGATA CHAKRABORTY
Author – Saugata
Chakraborty
Genre – Short
Stories, Thriller Publisher – Notion Press
In this book, the author has written twelve short stories. They are narrated in nine tales. There is no connection between the stories
and also have many characters. The stories are also not completed and it is
observed to be written in rush.
A young widow of
overdosed drug victim disappears from Goa. Later, after three years, the British
nationals claim to know where she is before departing for London. “They
go to sleep” is a racy thriller on criminal psychology and police procedure.
In the year
2043, where nobody writes letters anymore, a person decides to write about his
memories that going to erase. Later, when the identity got revealed, the
impact on individuals and the society at large assumes different proportions.
A promising poet
meets his muse on a boarding train. They share many things but they did
not know each other’s names. Will they meet again in the metro? They share lots of
things like fish, cutlets and Kolkata book fair.
Maybe, if the author has the written complete story instead of many short stories in the book it would have
been more interesting.
